Absent Friends Film Series: The Savages

April 24, 2020

The following message is from The Hospice of Waterloo Region, host of the Absent Friends Film series:

Due to public safety concerns regarding COVID-19 and recognizing how important it is to play our part in making the rate of transmission as slow as possible, the Hospice of Waterloo Region has decided to postpone organizational events indefinitely.

The health and safety of our clients, volunteers and staff is our primary concern. It is with an abundance of caution that we take these steps and we appreciate your understanding.

7:00-9:30 p.m.
St. Jerome’s University Academic Centre SJ2 2002 Main Level
290 Westmount Rd. N, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada N2L 3G3

Attend a film screening of The Savages and follow-up discussion from 7:00 – 9:30p.m. as part of the Absent Friends Film Series.

Starring Philip Seymour Hoffman and Laura Linney, this film follows two adult children as they struggle to care for their estranged father who has dementia.

The Absent Friends Film Series challenges us to talk about the often taboo topics of death, dying and grief.

Supported by the RIA, the Hospice of Waterloo Region is collaborating with St. Jerome’s University Lectures in Catholic Experience to host a series of films. Each showing will be followed by a small group discussion led by special guests. The series hopes to inspire us to build a more compassionate community.

This event is free. Please register here.
