We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Arnold Mitnitski. Professor Mitnitski’s contributions to the field of aging research and the development of the frailty index, a measure of health and risk assessment, changed the way we support our oldest citizens.
He was a skilled mathematician and University Research Professor of Medicine with cross appointments at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and Department of Community Health & Epidemiology at Dalhousie University.
He was known by our research team as brilliant, kind and humble. Our sincere condolences to his family and all those who had the privilege to work with him. To learn more about Professor Mitnitski’s legacy, read this touching tribute from long-time colleague Dr. Kenneth Rockwood.
