The RIA team wishes Jen Boger all the best as she leaves her role as Schlegel Research Chair in Technology for Independent Living. She has relocated to the West coast with her family, but will continue collaborating with the RIA as a research scientist.
Jen joined the RIA in 2014 and her work has focused on the use of technology to enhance the health, well-being, and independence of older adults. She has created internationally renowned assistive technologies in collaboration with researchers from many disciplines and most importantly with older adults, their families, and their circle of care. She is a strong advocate for co-design and this commitment continues in her work.
In her time at the RIA she spearheaded many projects including developing virtual reality exercise games that encourage physical activity for older adults living with dementia, research into easy-to-use technologies to track sleep, and finding ways for social media to reduce loneliness in isolated older adults.
Jen’s work with the RIA has made a difference for older adults across Canada – we look forward to continuing to work with her and seeing what new projects she takes on in her new role. Best wishes to Jen on her new adventure!
