RIA offering complimentary LIVING the Dementia Journey workshops

In partnership with the Waterloo Wellington Local Health Integration Network (LHIN), the RIA is pleased to offer three complimentary “LIVING the Dementia Journey” (LDJ) one-day workshops to team members working in long-term care homes within the Waterloo Wellington region.

LDJ is an award-winning, evidence-informed training program for those who support people living with dementia. The program was created in collaboration with people living with dementia and their care partners, and provides a fresh perspective on dementia care and support based on real life experiences. LDJ emphasizes the importance of shifting care and services to focus on a person’s strengths and abilities, and how each person can be supported in living life to the fullest.

The interactive, one-day workshop includes presentations, individual reflections, small and large group discussions, and experiential learning to meet the needs of adult learners. Lunch will be provided and participants will receive a workbook and a Certificate of Completion.

Before registering, there are a few eligibility guidelines to keep in mind:

  • This complimentary training is only available to team members working in long-term care homes within the Waterloo Wellington region;
  • No more than three team members from the same long-term care home are eligible to register, but up to two additional team members can be added to a wait list; and
  • Registration is limited to 30 people per workshop.
