Ontario Centres for Learning, Research, and Innovation in Long-Term Care

The Ontario Centres for Learning, Research and Innovation in Long-Term Care (CLRI) strengthen quality of care and living for residents across the province. In support of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, the Ontario CLRI is mandated to build capacity through education, research and knowledge mobilization to improve the health and well-being of people who live and work in long-term care.

Program Description

The Ontario CLRI is funded by the Government of Ontario and hosted at Baycrest Health Sciences, Bruyère, and the Schlegel-UW Research Institute for Aging. The collective expertise, resources and partnerships of the host organizations help advance the Program’s provincially-mandated goals.

The Ontario CLRI helps the province’s 600+ long-term care (LTC) homes to improve the quality of life and care for residents through education, research, and knowledge mobilization. The program partners with others in LTC to train the workforce, support research, and share innovations and resources to provide solutions for priority issues, including an aging population, care complexity, and workforce excellence. The Ontario CLRI also builds on partnerships with colleges and universities to provide in-person, blended and virtual training for interprofessional teams, as well as student placements and internships. The program’s goal is to support the sector in using the collective knowledge, resources and leading practices in LTC.
