Linda Sheiban Taucar

Linda Sheiban Taucar is a nurse scientist and the director of the Centre for Health Care Research and Innovation. She has been part of the Conestoga community for over 11 years. She is a registered nurse and the former Schlegel Associate Research Chair at the Canadian Institute for Seniors Care at Conestoga and the RIA.

Linda received her bachelor of science and master of science degrees at the University of Waterloo in health studies and gerontology. She later went on to pursue her bachelor of science in nursing at York University after being inspired by the clients and clinicians she engaged with through her education and work experiences, including her time as a live-in care aide.

Linda uses her joint clinical and research knowledge to lead applied research and advocate for nursing best practices and workforce development across the health care sector. She has led and supported initiatives that look to ease transition to practice for health care providers, foster intergenerational connections between students and seniors, and support the building of gerontological education. Linda also co-authored the third edition of Ebersole and Hess’ Gerontological Nursing & Healthy Aging in Canada textbook.

Linda has had the privilege of teaching in Nursing and Personal Support Worker programs at Conestoga and co-manages the Leadership in Senior Living program, a collaboration between Conestoga and the RIA. Linda sits on the Board of Directors at the Canadian Association on Gerontology (since 2017) and served as the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario Waterloo Chapter’s Policy and Political Action Executive Network Officer from 2018 to 2024.
