Benjamin is an associate clinical professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences at McMaster University and the Postgraduate Research Lead for Psychiatry at the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine, Waterloo Regional Campus. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in both adult and geriatric psychiatry.  She is a geriatric psychiatrist serving seniors with dementia at the Specialized Mental Health Program at the Freeport site of Grand River Hospital. Benjamin served as the inaugural Medical Director for Geriatric Psychiatry at the Provincial Geriatrics Leadership Ontario (PGLO) and coordinates the provincial infrastructure for clinical geriatrics care. Benjamin is also a co-founder and co-executive director of GeriMedRisk, which is a Ministry of Health-funded, clinical and education service that helps doctors and nurse practitioners across Ontario with questions about medications in older persons.
