Dr. Tejal Patel is a Clinical Associate Professor and Schlegel Research Chair in Medication Management and Aging with the Schlegel-UW Research Institute for Aging. Patel obtained her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the University of Kentucky and completed a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Pharmacokinetics and Neurology at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Patel’s clinical practice focuses on the pharmacotherapeutic management of cognitive disorders, seizures, and Parkinson’s disease. Patel’s research program centers on improving medication use among older adults in clinical and home-based settings by: 

  1. Investigating the role of healthcare technology in supporting older adults with medication self-management.
  2. Developing tools to support care-partners with medication management tasks.
  3. Developing medication review tools to facilitate the identification and resolution of medication-related problems amongst older adults by all clinicians, but especially pharmacists.
