Data Governance in Retirement Communities
The Data Governance in Retirement Communities research project aims to provide a data governance framework and guidelines to service and technology providers to support the implementation of technology that improves the quality of life for older adults living in long-term care and retirement homes.
The goal of the Canadian research project was to identify practical considerations, opportunities, and challenges of managing data in older adult-focused community settings. Our objective was to better understand the current landscape of— and concerns involved with—Active Assisted Living (AAL) and smart technology use in long-term care and retirement homes. This understanding helped provide context for the development of a data governance framework and guidelines for implementing smart communities.
