Experiences of recreation team members during COVID-19

The roles for many recreation teams in long-term care and retirement settings changed during the COVID-19 pandemic. With recreation team members being called upon to wear many different hats (e.g., facilitate family visits) and with outside artists/entertainers no longer able to come into the homes, it is likely that recreation calendars and the experience of recreation professionals have changed substantially.

The Experiences of recreation team members during the COVID-19 pandemic research project sought to discover more about the innovative practices being employed within long-term care and retirement homes to provide meaningful and purposeful recreation experiences to residents, and use the data to share new best practices.
