Movement provides a window into the mind, especially for those at risk of age-related neurodegeneration. Kaylena Ehgoetz Martens’ research focuses on how the brain controls movement and how this process fails as we age and with the onset of disease. By studying dynamic walking patterns, we can gain insights into early predictors of aging, cognition and possibly future neurodegeneration, in order to catalyze early diagnosis. With the development of innovative movement assessments and continuous movement tracking technology, Professor Ehgoetz Martens aims to promote better strategies to prevent future falls, and preserve mobility throughout the lifespan.
