Innovative staffing models are a promising approach to strengthening the long-term care (LTC) workforce by prioritizing meaningful staff-resident relationships, work-life balance, and quality of care.

The consistent assignment and flex schedule guidebooks are examples of innovative staffing models and provide overviews of the approach and practical guidelines to support implementation. Each guidebook is based on the evaluation at a Schlegel Village home and is supplemented by the broader research evidence and the team’s experiential learnings.
